Karmaklubb*
Karmaklubb* is an autonomous nomadic queer platform, an ever-morphing space for queer visibility and celebration. Growing out of contemporary arts (visual, audible, performative, and discursive formats) with a strong focus on diversity, queerness, and the freedom of speech, Karmaklubb* aim through collaboration, gatherings, and cross-disciplinary strategies to lay the grounds for exchange of knowledge as well as to constantly broaden the audiences and impacts of such expressions. The programme consists of open conversations, curatorial work, club evenings and nights, screenings, artist talks, film production, panels, educational formats, concerts, performance art, Drag, saunas, wine tastings, ‘trojan horsing’ (experimental strategies for visibility), ale, and much more. It is also a research and publishing hub — IGWTLI publishing — that exists as essays, letters and gifts, transcripts, but also listening sets, podcasts, and an archive of ‘thought & pleasure’, art to wear (in collaboration with artists and activists) — and new forms constantly to be explored. Critical reflections as well as pure joi [sic!], anchored in the Karmaklubb* morphing and transcending practice with people being part of the travel. Since 2018, a series of encounters on hybrid spaces — from art institutions to club spheres — crossing communities, queerness, and genders in flux have been published, aiming to create a platform for an open feminist, queer discourse. A selection of these texts will be assembled in an anthology published by Karmaklubb* and IGWTLI publishing (work in progress). For the name, it is after a quote by Tony Cokes from an open conversation in 2018; ‘I go where the love is.’
