Knoklene blir til trær / Los huesos se transforman en árboles

450 kr

“Knoklene blir til trær / Los huesos se transforman en árboles” presents a series of photographs collected during an Artistic Residency in Finnskogen divided in 3 periods: fall, spring and winter. Working with analog photography, the artist explores how memories and perception are affected by mental illness, reflecting on the duality of the forest as a place to find peace, in contrast with facing loneliness and vulnerability. This project portrays the unsettling feeling of walking through a silent vast forest, while “its presence” stalks.

This publication is the third edition of the book series “Finnskogen”. Including new material gathered after a third residency period. This Photobook is made with the support of Kulturdirektoratet, Norske Grafikere and Atelier Austmarka. Risoprinted, and hand-bound by the artist in an edition of 100 copies.

Elisa Halvorsen Castillo

Elisa Halvorsen Castillo (b. 1990) is a Chilean artist with Norwegian ancestry based in Oslo. Working with analog experimental techniques and self-published artists’ books, Elisa explores the concept of memory and its plasticity, a subject that interests her since she experienced short-term memory loss due to a period of illness in her mid 20s.
