SOFT RETROSPECTIVE brings together works from the last twelve years of Are Blytt´s painting practice. His work explores the idea and concept of what an artist is, beyond basic questions about what defines an individual behind broken ideologies and evolutionary U-turns. The relationship – and communication – between image and text, as well as the connection between photography and painting, is fundamental in this progression. The book is a look into the painterly, conceptual, and political in Blytt´s work, accompanied with essays by Chloe Stead (GB), Ravi Ghosh (GB), Tommy Olsson (NO), and an interview Tom Lingnau (DE).
