Obliterative Splendor

1,125 kr

Obliterative Splendor is a 2-color perfect bound artist book exploring early 20th century examinations of color in the animal kingdom. The publication was first inspired by the uncanny studies and prototype imagery of Abbott Thayer’s 1909 book titled, Concealed Coloration in the Animal Kingdom, which later went on to influence camouflage in the western world. The book showcases a series of hyperreal images developed in partnership with Appalachian State University’s Biology Department. The images are constructed using various new generative artificial intelligence tools to critique the modern image and its survival in present-day media.
